India is at number 2 in Cyber Crime Victims

Over three-quarters of Indians web surfers are most victimised by hackers and cybercriminals, including computer viruses, online credit card fraud and identity theft, security solutions provider after the Chinese, says a report released by Symantec, the makers of Norton security software. But Indian web surfers might also be safer from the cyber criminals because of their lying habits. The report finds India as the third least honest nation on the net after China and Brazil

About 65 per cent of Internet users globally have fallen victim to cybercrime, while the number is much higher forIndia at 76 per cent, second most victimised nation after China in terms of cyber attacks or cyber crime. About 60 per cent respondents said they were attacked by some form of computer virus and malware, making it one of the most common ways of attack, report added.

Symantec’s Regional Consumer Product Marketing Manager David Hall said cyber criminals can use viruses and Trojans (that give remote computer access) to gather personal information such as mothers’ maiden names and data on birth, driving licences, credit cards and passwords.

“These identities are known to be sold as complete package in the cyber world for prices as low as US $ 10,” Hall said. The study on the human impact of cyber crimes across 14 nations showed that only 8 per cent Indians think that they would become victim of a cyber attack. Once victimized, solving a cyber crime would take around 44 days and cost Rs 5,262 in India, in comparison to 28 days and US $334 (Rs. 15,700) elsewhere in the world.

The report noted that while 58 per cent of the victims (India) said they felt angry, 51 per cent said they felt cheated, while another 46 per cent annoyed/upset. In many cases, they blame themselves (88 per cent) for being attacked.

Nearly 57 per cent respondents said they expect cybercriminals will not be to be brought to justice, resulting in a reluctance to take action and a sense of helplessness.

Australian Colleges not refunding fees to Indian Students

Many students from India's Punjab state are facing frustration as they are being denied fee refunds by some colleges in Australia, and an educational consultant said that 'we are sick and tired'.

The Indian students are seeking fee refunds as their visa applications were turned down. Many of the applicants had also decided to withdraw from the visa application process for various reasons.

Despite promises by the Australian government to make the fee refund from the ESOS Assurance Fund, the students concerned are yet to get their money back.

The ESOS Assurance Fund is managed by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.

'We are sick and tired of Australian and UK governments preaching to us about ethical practices while denying fees refunds to overseas students whose visa applications have been refused,' Harpreet Kamboj, an education consultant from Mohali in Punjab.

'A number of colleges sitting on the hard-earned money of our clients are not being forced by the Australian government to make the refund as per the law while student visas are being refused for trivial reasons,' added Kamboj, who was here recently to pursue refund applications with Hales Institute in Melbourne.

According to the Australian law regulating overseas students, the college concerned should make the refund within 28 days of getting relevant information from a student.

Vipin Bajaj, another educational consultant from Mohali, said: 'The Australian government has failed Indian students once again by not paying out of the ESOS Assurance Fund.'

'ESOS Assurance Fund managers are making payments to adjust those overseas students who are already in Australia and whose colleges have gone bankrupt in the recent past,' said Bajaj.(IANS)

World, 70 million Children are not getting Education

Those people who lives in north-eastern Africa are mostly don’t like to go school, according to new world rankings. Around 70 million children across the world are prevented from going to school each day. Education for the rural poor is crucial in Africa, those living in north-eastern Africa are the least likely to receive a good education or any education at all, an umbrella body of charities and teaching unions known as the Global Campaign for Education has found.

The ranks of world's poorest countries according to their education systems. Somalia has the least functional system in the world with just 10% of children going to primary school, while Eritrea is second worst. In addition, the others are Haiti, Comoros, Ethiopia, Chad, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Liberia.

The Worst Places in the World – warns that attempts to ensure all children can attend school are under severe threat. By 2015, there will be more children out of school than there are today, unless the richest countries dramatically increase the aid they give to the poorest nations."Poor countries are on a worsening trajectory, as severe and deepening pressure from the economic downturn caused by the crisis of the rich world's banking system bites on their budgets," David Archer, one of the authors from Action Aid says. Some £2.9bn is expected to be lost to education budgets in sub-Saharan Africa because of the economic crisis, he warns.

Kenya, which is rated in the 50 worst countries for education, delayed plans to provide a free primary school education to 8.3 million children in September. The global economic crisis was one reason given for this.

Girls are far less likely to attend school than boys in many of the world's poorest countries. In Malawi, of those that enroll, 22.3% of boys complete primary compared to 13.8% of girls. In rural Burkina Faso, 61% of girls are married by the age of 18 and over 85% never get to see the inside of a secondary school.

Most rich countries have failed to keep their promises to help poor countries improve their education systems, according to the study. While the UK fares relatively well, along with the Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland and Ireland, others – such as Greece, Austria, Italy and Germany – are not giving nearly as much as they should.

Queen Rania of Jordan, a co-founder of the Global Campaign said "Education doesn't just beat poverty It beats disease. It beats inequality, and for girls education is nothing less than a lifesaver, from stigmatism, insecurity and violence.

CBSE, Introducing New aptitude test for Class 10 students

CBSE announced to introduce a new aptitude test for students of Class 10.Before this CBSE had implemented grades and Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) in place of marks The aptitude test that has been developed by the CBSE, called the Students' Global Aptitude Index (SGAI)will be made available to students in all 10,000 schools that are affiliated with the Board. The test aims at helping all students to make a better choice regarding their career.

The first such SGAI test will be conducted on January 15, 2011. A fee of Rs.100 will have to be paid by each student to appear for the aptitude test. According to CBSE, the test will be two-and-half hour long and will be a paper-pencil test. It would help in determining the scientific, numerical, social, behavioral science and art aptitudes of a student of Class 10.

The SGAI has been customized by the CBSE specifically for Indian students. While conventional aptitude tests help in determining a student's professional orientation .The test would also help students by empowering them with self-knowledge in terms of their aptitude as well as interests so as to help them make the best decision regarding what subjects or stream to pursue after class X.

A CBSE circular said that the SGAI intends to reduce the difference between a student's aptitude and interests. This will help in further optimizing a students' potential, enhance satisfaction, increase motivation and also help in reducing wastage of human and financial resources. The SGAI test has already been tested on a group of secondary students from around 100 schools affiliated to CBSE across the country. The decision to conduct the test will lie with the schools. CBSE will also be organizing training workshops to familiarize school principals to the new aptitude test.

UK Students, will teached by Indians Maths Tutors

Punjab, graduates from math are being taught the British syllabus so they can give private lessons by phone and through internet.

Graduates based in India are being trained to give maths tuition to British children over the telephone and online, at all hours of the day and night.

A tutoring agency has hired 100 tutors in Punjab and coached them in the primary school curriculum and GCSE and A-level syllabuses, so that they can teach school children of all ages.

London-based Bright Spark Education Company –said they had turned to India because it was so difficult to find maths graduates in the UK who wanted to be fulltime tutors. The Indian tutors will be available 24 hours a day and seven days a week. They will be paid £7 an hour. The minimum wage in Punjab is £2.52.The agency says parents can cut costs by hiring an Indian-based home tutor, rather than one who lives in the UK. It is charging £12 per lesson, less than half the amount parents would normally pay for one-to-one private tuition.

Maths teachers are in chronic short supply in this country. Maths graduates are offered a golden handshake of £5,000 when they enroll on postgraduate teacher training courses. In 2009, some 5,980 students graduated in maths in the UK. In India, 690,000 students graduate with degrees in science and maths each year.

The tutors use an interactive whiteboard to conduct lessons. They communicate with pupils through a headset. Pupils can see the tutor's face on their screen. The agency takes bookings from parents and teachers, and timetables when the tuition will take place. Each session is recorded so that students, parents and teachers can replay it.

Important of Science In my Opinion

In this era every concept is based on science there is some scientific reason behind every concept. First time this thought came to my mind when I was in 9th standard, from that time I am keen interested in science subject. Science is very important and interesting subject, it tells the causes and effects of many phenomena. When scientists see a connection between one fact and another, they try to show a cause-and-effect relationship. The cause explains why something happens. The effect describes what happens. Almost all writing about science is concerned with cause and effect.

Typical science activities include observing, measuring, categorizing, asking questions, forming a hypothesis (guessing how something works), proposing solutions, trying solutions (experimenting), summarizing findings, evaluating results, recycling back to observing, and sometimes reporting.

At academic level science is common for all students after that science is divided into many categories, there are various branches of science at present. Science is a good option for choosing a carrier option for a student because there are lots of opportunity in this field.
